The model generates; the product supports a workflow
The model processes input and generates output. The product adds an interface, web search, uploads, memory, integrations and tools. The plan defines access, quotas and terms. Upgrading may increase a quota without changing every answer; changing products may change tools even within the same model family.
A chat subscription is different from an API
A chat subscription supports work in an application. APIs integrate models into software and have their own billing and limits. ChatGPT Plus does not include API usage. Some vendors offer separate credits: check amount, expiry and terms rather than assuming everything is included.
What to check as you practise
- Did you separate chat billing from API costs?
- Did you inspect the selector instead of copying the entire API catalogue?
- Did you distinguish a documented limit from an assumption?
